China (traditional Chinese: 中 國; simplified Chinese: 中 国; Tongyong Pinyin: Jhongguó; Hanyu Pinyin: Zhōngguó (help·info); Wade-Giles (Mandarin): Chung¹kuo²) is a cultural region, an ancient civilization, and, depending on perspective, a national or multinational entity extending over a large area in East Asia. The last Chinese Civil War (with major combat ending in 1949) has resulted in two political entities:
China has one of the world's oldest and continuous civilizations, consisting of states and cultures dating back more than six millennia. It has the world's longest continuously used written language system, and is viewed as the source of many major inventions. Historically, China's cultural sphere has extended across East Asia as a whole, with Chinese religion, customs, and writing systems being adopted to varying degrees by neighbors such as Japan, Korea and Vietnam. The first evidence of human presence in the region was found at the Zhoukoudian cave and is one of the first known specimens of Homo erectus, now commonly known as the Peking Man, estimated to have lived approximately from 300,000 to 550,000 years ago. GNU Free Documentation License What can China do to improve energy consumption to decrease pollution -- especially in terms of coal? Q. I'm trying to do an economic analysis of the role of energy consumption in China's ever-increasing pollution problem. If anyone could provide answers either quantitative or qualitative in nature it would be much appreciated. The sooner the better! Asked by Raging Eskimo - Tue Jul 15 22:53:12 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Not toally sure. They could invest in alternate energy. However, I'm not sure they will. I don't think they would... I think that American criticism/other critics of their policies is not working and has only inflamed them. However, my idea to fix this is by working with the Chinese cooperatively on trying to make some pollution agreements/agreements on how much emissions everyone should have. Its difficult but I prefer dialogue rather than criticism. Also, if they pass that, (sign the agreement and start working on it) then both countries should work on getting more alternate energy. Partnerships and cooperation could occur..and that would help However I think my ideas could be very idealist and may not occur. I am trying to find two (2) examples of how China's government was stronger during the communist revolution. and also, i need them to be positive. However without Mao China would never have the foundations that would enable it to become a superpower. Q. (continued) between them by a plane ( which I have done many times with my family )? Do continents even mean anything anymore nowadays? America and China are like two provinces of the same country IMO. Asked by Yongpeng Sun - Thu May 14 14:53:13 2009 - - 6 Answers - 1 Comments A. They are 2 nations on separate land masses with oceans between them. That makes them different continents, with our means of travel these days, the continents are only important for geography, and geology. and history. Answered by Roman C - Thu May 14 14:58:49 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "china" China is a cultural region and ancient civilization in East Asia. China refers to a one of the world's oldest civilization comprising successive states and cultures dating back more than 6,000 years. Due to the stalemate of the last Chinese Civil War following World War II, China currently looks like two separate countries: the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Republic of China (ROC). The PRC administers and governs mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau, while the ROC administers and governs Taiwan and its surrounding islands. Each government used to claim that it was the only official government of China. However, PRC is nowadays widely accepted in the world as the only offical government.
